Classics Hammer Goalkeeper Academy Structure
Classics Hammer is taking a huge step forward by including in their structure a full time Goalkeeper Technical staff coach starting in the fall of 2008. 

This staff coach’s responsibilities cover all aspects of the Classics Hammer Goalkeeper Academy including training all U11-U14 goalkeepers in the fall and all U13-18 keepers in the spring once a week. Also under the direction of the full time goalkeeper coach will be game analysis for Classic Hammer goalkeepers and creation and updating of the Classics Hammer goalkeeper curriculum.

All Classic Hammer training sessions will be scheduled around the CHGA to optimize goalkeeper attendance and programming.

All Goalkeeper sessions will have goalkeepers with common ability level and topics and intensity are chosen specifically for that level.

Number of sessions per week
U11-- One technical session
U12-- Two technical sessions
U13-- One Technical and one tactical session
U14-- One Technical and one tactical session
U15-U18 Premier--One Technical and one tactical session
U15-U18 Royal – One 90 minute session per week with Technical and Tactical aspects

Technical sessions
Topics will cover technical aspects of the game such as catching, diving, shot stopping and foot work. Each session will have between 6-8 goalkeepers per session. It is very important to have this ratio during these topics so players can get personal attention as well as learn from each other. Most Technical sessions will be 60 minutes.

Tactical sessions
Topics covered in these sessions will cover more of the thinking part of the position such as positioning, when and how to come for crosses and breakaways as well as how to communicate to teammates.  These Tactical sessions will be for 90 minutes. 30-40 minutes will be isolated for that day’s topic and 50-60 minutes will be incorporated within team play with GK staff instruction. Since the tactical aspects need to be taught in real game situations the player to staff ratio will not exceed 4-1.
