Approach & Structure
About Classics Hammer FC
The Classics Hammer FC organization has long been a soccer pioneer in Cincinnati. We were the first to introduce paid, professional coaches to work with our players. We were also the first Club to hire a Director of Coaching and the first Club to develop a structured training curriculum for our players and teams. CHFC is the first and only club in Cincinnati to have a full-time Director of Goalkeeping. Per our bylaws, all coaches in Classics Hammer FC are paid-professional staff, none are parent coaches. CHFC is funded primarily by player fees supplemented by fund raising, including income from the men's and women's adidas Blue Chip Showcase. Building
Blocks - The Foundation for Future Success All training is based on instilling a foundation of technical proficiency for future successes. We place a high priority on teaching players dribbling moves to beat a defender, completing passes, and receiving the ball with direction and deception. U7-U8
Academy U8 players not yet wanting to join Classics Hammer FC teams may also join this program. The Academy will meet once a week for six weeks. Each 90-minute session will consist of an hour of instruction and 30 minutes of 4v4 play. Every fourth session is designated as "game day" where, after a skills warm-up, teams will be arbitrarily formed for play. The curriculum focuses on skill development using small-sided games of 1v1 and 2v2. Each player will have hundreds of ball touches every session. U8
Academy Under the leadership of the Youth Development Academy Director, coaches will be selected to work with various teams and both gender at U8 to provide each player and team a consistent level of programming and development. The curriculum focuses on skill development- dribbling and ball striking- exclusively using small-sided games of 1v1 and 2v2. Each player will have hundreds of ball touches every session. In Spring 2006, our teams will participate in the CUSL 4v4 League. U9
Academy In the academy format, teams and players will work with the entire staff in training; however, team coaches will be assigned to a specific team for league play. The curriculum focuses on skill development- dribbling, ball striking, and receiving- and very limited tactical play, including support play using small-sided games of 2v1 in addition to those listed above. Classics Hammer FC competes in CUSL at U9. U10

The curriculum includes skill development- adding tackling to the above list and tactics- team shape, simple combinations, and pressuring defender using small-sided games of 1v2 and 3v3 in addition to those listed above.
